Maybelline Drugstore Mascaras Review (Including Purple!)

For someone who doesn’t wear mascara that often (I hate how it dries out your lashes… instead I use coconut oil to make them long, dark, shiny, and healthy) I have a treasure trove of it. Here’s my review of six different kinds under the Maybelline label, which I usually got at Wal-Mart. It seems to be true, that the more expensive it is, the better quality it is.

  • Maybelline Illegal Length $6.94
  • My favorite
  • Comes as waterproof, or not
  • Even the non-waterproof doesn’t melt off and cause raccoon eyes after a long night of dancing
  • Goes on smoothly
  • Non-clumpy
  • Natural-looking
  • Actually lengthens lashes

  • Maybelline Falsies $5.49
  • Kind of clumpy
  • Does make lashes appear thicker
  • The wand is awesome – bent just a little, and helps curl lashes

  • Maybelline Great Lash Clear $4.09
  • Doesn’t really do anything on its own
  • Helps separate lashes if you want to put a colored mascara over it
  • Great for eyebrows, actually

  • Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes $4.09
  • Really don’t like this wand. It’s in a kind of cone shape with the thinner part on the end, and I usually end up poking my eyes and getting uneven application
  • Other than that, pretty typical mascara

  • Maybelline Great Lash Blackest Black $2.49
  • The wand is long and straight and makes application easy
  • Haven’t noticed anything especially black about it

  • Maybelline Great Lash So Very Berry $2.49
  • This was in the same line as Blackest Black, with other uniquely colored mascaras… the purple color didn’t really show up though, and the formula didn’t make my lashes thicker or longer or anything desirable. Cool idea but didn’t work
